The Kings Mountain Historical Museum
"WAR & MEMORY: A Commemoration of Remembrance"
February 21 - June 3, 2023
An introduction to “Decoration Day” and its roots within the African American Community to honor and remember Union Soldiers after the Civil War, how it evolved during World War I to expand to honor all American war fatalities, becoming a Federal Holiday, and being declared as “Memorial Day” later on after World War II. This exhibit will feature Civil War, WWI and WWII artifacts and ephemera on display in remembrance of residents of Cleveland County in honor of Memorial Day in 2023.
