How to Make Soap

Learn the basics of soap making in this hands-on class with Janeen Rich! Handmade soap is perfect for gifts, special occasions, or simply adding a little luxury to your everyday routine.
During class, you’ll make soap from start to finish. The freshly made soap will need to set for approximately 48 hours before Janeen cuts it into individual bars. Each participant will receive 2 bars of handmade soap to take home once they are ready.
Please note that handmade soap must cure for 3–4 weeks before use.
What to bring:
Please bring an apron and wear closed-toe shoes.
All other tools and supplies are provided.
Instructor: Janeen Rich
Artist and instructor Janeen Rich brings a unique combination of creativity, hands-on experience, and an extensive background in safety to this soap-making class. For more than 25 years, she has taught hazardous materials classes to audiences ranging from firefighters and federal agencies to maintenance crews and community groups. She also spent more than 17 years responding to hazardous materials incidents across 11 counties.
That experience makes safety an important part of Janeen’s teaching, while her creative approach keeps the class fun, approachable, and hands-on. Students will be guided through the soap-making process from start to finish in a comfortable learning environment.
