Kings Mountain Little Theater
The old fishing pier out on the end of Cypress Lake has just fallen under the magic of another Catfish Moon. It was the favorite hangout for three best friends when they were kids—skipping school, skinny dipping and even experiencing the mysteries of kissing girls. Now Curley, Gordon and Frog are older, and they have tasted the bitterness of life as well as the sweetness, and the pressures and problems that come with middle age have eroded the closeness between Frog and Gordon. The poignant resolution of the play brings Gordon and Frog to the realization that life is too precious and too short to let true friendship get away.

Artists' Books: A Handmade Journey

Saturday, February 16, 2019 • 6-8 pm
Free and open to the public • Dress is casual
Exhibit is on view February 16 – March 29, 2019
This exhibit of Artists' Books grew out of a group of book making enthusiasts, self-named “The Bookies”, that formed at Stillwater Studios in McAdenville, 2007.
Stillwater Studios closed in 2009, and in 2013 this book art group found a home at Southern Arts Society. These artists continue to broaden their knowledge of making books by hand. They invite you to view their work in Southern Arts Society's Reavis and Founders Galleries.
The artists participating in this show are:
Karen Bean, Amber Blackwood, Anne Cowie, Susan Doggett, Laura Gardner, Janet Kaufman, Bill Mason, Sandy Mason, Pam Perkins, Jewel Reavis, Deborah Rogers, Jean Silver, Lore Spivey, and the late Bonnie H. Price.

"Books: Stories That Shape Us Exhibit"
Feb 9 - May 11, 10am
Books have been a part of our lives for centuries. Come in to explore how books permeate so much of what we learn and do. We will focus specifically on books and authors who have influenced our region: both past and the present! Fun for book lovers and all who love stories! February 9 - May 11, 2019
Admission is free!
Local Author Mark Hughes will be at Kings Mountain Historical Museum Saturday, May 4 at 2pm to talk about the stories of local people involved in and affected by the Civil War. Widely recognized as the authority on Civil War cemeteries, Mark is the only author to publish books on both Union and Confederate cemeteries. His books include: "Bivouac of the Dead", "The Unpublished Roll of Honor", and "Confederate Cemeteries" (2 vols.), and "The New Civil War Handbook". Still in the midst of researching and writing yet another book, Mark will talk about how he has researched local people from the time period and share some of the interesting stories he has learned along the way. A book signing will follow his talk. As the museum’s current exhibit focuses on books and how their stories shape us, join for an opportunity to discover another shaping story. We hope you will be a part of it!

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10-4.
We are located at 100 E. Mountain Street, Kings Mountain.
