About the Artist

Brenda Holt decided to try her luck in stained glass art in 1990. After 6 weeks of attending stained glass class in Charlotte, NC her instructor said to be sure not to quit her day job because stained glass art was certainly not her niche. Yes, there was evidence that there were no artistic skills in her body. Yet, she did not give up and continued to practice whenever the time allowed. But in 2001, she found herself with more time to explore these crafty abilities due to a job loss. By September of that year, she was devoting at least 20 hours each week to learning the intricacy of this art form. In 2005, Brenda began to teach stained glass classes to groups and individuals along with creating/designing stained glasspanels for cabinet doors, exterior windows, gardens, signs, and ethnic art as commissioned work. Today, Brenda has quite a few stained glass pieces placed in art galleries, churches, and homes throughout the United States and is excited to pass these skills along to you!

Basic Beginner Quilling Class. In this class the students will learn the basic

shapes that make up quilling and how to roll and shape your paper and put these pieces together to form designs. Each student will take home a pair of sunflower earrings that they will create.

16 and up

Class Size Min. 6 - Max. 8
What to Bring Bring a minimum 6” ruler, ball head straight pins if you have

them.

About the Artist

I was first introduced to quilling in 1986 at a craft class at a local nature center.  I fell in love with the art and have been doing it ever since. I am inspired by what can be created by rolling and shaping strips of paper.   Most of my work is done in the traditional method of quilling.  I like to create extreme dimension in the pieces I create.  I take inspiration from all that surrounds me in daily life.  Since my initial introduction I am still captivated by the art and my admiration for it continues to grow.  It takes patience to work with this delicate craft and I enjoy the detail and perfection that the art demands.
