Want to learn how to make your own decorative rope bowl? This beginner’s rope class
will teach you the basics to get you started. You will learn how to coil your base,
measure the rope, determine the width of your bowl, and how to angle your hands to
make the sides. We will talk about strategies to add decorative features, tension on the
feeding rope, and how to finish the bowl. This class is designed to give you the basic
techniques so that you can become addicted to it as I have!
Supply List:
- Working Sewing Machine
- Work table/slide table for your machine (for the rope to lay on)
- Open toed ZigZag foot
- Jeans needle: 100/16
- Scissors - for thread and rope
- Yard Stick
- Glue Stick
- Thread: Aurifil 30wt Natural color will match the rope, you can use colored if you
prefer. This will be used for upper/lower thread. - Optional: 1⁄2” cut strips of fabric
A 25 yard bundle of rope is included in the cost of the class. This will make 2 coasters
and 2 “microwave” bowls.
