Chalkfest Registration
CCAC Chalk Fest

Join us for a colorful morning of creativity as artists of all ages transform downtown Shelby's sidewalks into vibrant works of art.
Whether you're an experienced chalk artist or simply looking for a fun day of creating, everyone is welcome. Individuals, families, and teams (up to four artists) are encouraged to participate.
Each registration includes:
- Individuals: One 2' × 3' sidewalk square
- Teams (up to four artists): Two adjoining 2' × 3' sidewalk squares
- One complimentary starter pack of five pieces of chalk
Artists are encouraged to bring additional chalk to complete their designs. Extra black and white chalk will be available for purchase on-site for $2 per piece if needed. Oil-based chalk and spray sealants are not permitted.
Event Details
- Check-in: 9:00 AM
- Location: Lafayette Street in front of the Earl Scruggs Center (103 Lafayette St., Shelby, NC)
- Artwork must be completed by: 12:00 PM
- Judging begins: 12:00 PM
- Competition area: North and west sides of Court Square
Awards
- Adult Category: $150
- Group Category: $150
- Youth Category: $50
What to Bring
We recommend bringing water, sunscreen, a hat, knee pads, paper towels, any tools you'd like to use, and additional chalk.
Registration
Preregistration is encouraged, as space is limited. Day-of registration will be available only if space remains.
Participant Acknowledgment
By submitting this registration, I acknowledge and agree that:
- I understand participation in CCAC Chalk Fest is voluntary and I assume all risks associated with participating.
- I release and hold harmless the Cleveland County Arts Council, its staff, volunteers, sponsors, and partners from any liability for injury, loss, or damage to myself or my property during the event.
- I understand this event is held rain or shine and that registration fees are non-refundable.
- I agree to follow all event rules and understand that artwork must be appropriate for all audiences. The Cleveland County Arts Council reserves the right to remove artwork that contains profanity, political messaging, or other inappropriate content.
- I understand that photographs and video taken during the event, including images of me and my artwork, may be used by the Cleveland County Arts Council for promotional, educational, and archival purposes without additional permission or compensation.
- I certify that the information I have provided is accurate and that I have read and agree to these terms.
