Altered Book / Junk Journal - April 25
Celebrate National Book Month + Independent Bookstore Day
Saturday, April 25 10 AM-12 PM
April is all about celebrating books, storytelling, and creativity and we’re leaning all the way in.
Join us on April 25 (National Independent Bookstore Day) for a playful, hands-on workshop where we transform an old book into something completely new. Using paint, collage, and a bit of beautiful chaos, we’ll turn pages into personal expressions, letting text guide us and the book itself become our muse.
Every book will be completely different. You’ll learn new creative techniques, explore fun ways to collage and layer, and most importantly have fun doing it no-rules style.
This is not about perfection. It’s about exploration, intuition, and getting a little messy in the best way.
This workshop is generously supported by incredible women-owned creative companies who are helping make this experience extra special: Heidi Swapp, istencils, and ArtFoamies. Their donated materials will be available for you to explore and play with throughout the class.
What to bring:
- A hardcover book (any size, any subject, thrifted encouraged)
- Glue stick
- A small bag of your favorite scraps, papers or found bits
- Scissors
Come ready to experiment, layer, and create something uniquely yours.
And since we’re celebrating all things books, don’t forget we have an independent bookstore right here in town, Box Turtle Books.
