Finding the Figure

Let's paint a figure...but not the way you probably think.

Seriously. If you've ever wanted to paint a figure but immediately thought, I can't draw, this class is for you.

We're not going to start with outlines or perfect proportions. We're going to start by playing. We'll throw down paint, make interesting marks, build layers, cover things up, make a few questionable decisions (my favorite part), and see where the painting wants to go.

Somewhere along the way, an expressive figure will begin to emerge. I'll show you how I find one in the chaos and help you do the same.

This isn't about painting a perfect person. It's about discovering one.

If you've taken one of my intuitive painting classes before, you'll feel right at home. If you've never painted with me, don't worry. I'll walk you through every step, and I promise there's no right way to do this.

Come ready to play, experiment, trust yourself a little more than usual, and leave with a painting that's completely your own.

Supplies

Bring whatever mark-making supplies you already have! Colored pencils, paint markers, charcoal, charcoal pencils, oil pastels, crayons, Neocolors... if you love using it, bring it. Don't go shopping for this class. Seriously. Just bring what you have.

You'll also need:

• A handful of paint brushes
• A water bucket for rinsing brushes

And wear clothes you don't mind getting paint on. Things might get a little messy, and that's part of the fun.
